How is CALM organized? and why?

CALM is decentralized and non-hierarchical. This is a movement of countless leaders, we have no need for a president. Activists act autonomously in decentralized cells, there is no one CALM Head Quaters. This way of organizing is most conducive to revolutionary action and most resillant against repression from fascists (govenment, corporations, police).

How is CALM funded?

The same way all other revolutionary groups have been... barely at all. There are full-time CALMrads, but CALM activists will never take a salary/wage from money donated to CALM. Funds needed for actions generally come from the activists carrying it out. Because CALM activists are dedicated to animal liberation any excess money or resources they have are funneled back into the movement.

Why should I join CALM and the fight for animal liberation?

In this society based on consumerism, greed, and self-interest, many animals, human and nonhuman, suffer horribly every day. Animal liberationists try to end that suffering.

The animals we use for food, research, fashion, entertainment, and pets face some of the most oppressive and violent conditions on earth. They are caged, beaten, neglected, and slaughtered. Approximately 54 billion animals are killed worldwide for food each year – that’s over 1,700 animals killed every second. Billions of other animals are killed each year for research, fashion, and entertainment.

Animal liberationists demand justice for all animals. By becoming an animal liberationist you join the fight for a better world.

Stupid Frequently Asked  Questions

I am with the police department and want to talk to someone from your organization.

CALM is not an organization - it is a movement.  We have no interest in talking to you as a police officer. Police and government have done nothing to stop animal cruelty and in fact often have played an active hand supporting the industries that profit off the pain and suffering of animals.

You can't outreach here [teacher outside highschool]

We can and will. It is completely legal. This is public property. Outreach is free speech and education. The public school system has neglected to teach the students that Canada kills near a billion animals every year subsidized by the government at the cost of workers rights, the environment, and the health of canadians. We are outraged students are lied to about where their food comes from and want to remedy that.
