A Culture of Animal Liberation

"In a world of social isolation and mindless occupation,
connecting with another is a rebellious act.
We should rebel."

In the fight for animal liberation we need to share more than ideaology with each other and the millions of potential vegetarians, vegans, and activists.
We need to share life.

Ideaology is only one reason people connect with each other.
Culture is the sum of all ways people connect with each other.
To thrive as a movement we need to connect with each other.

Employment

There are very few animal liberation initiatives you can get paid for.
Our suggestions to animal liberationists looking for employment-

  • Remember its ok if your job has nothing to do with animal liberation, you are not defined by your job.
  • Make sure the job leaves you with free time and free energy
  • Look for a job who's set of required skills are applicable to animal liberation initiatives/activists. (i.e. graphic/web designer, videographer, writer/journalist, photographer, educator, fundraiser, marketer, public relations, paralegal, etc.)
Whether you are employed, you want a job, are unemployeed, and/or hate wage slavery. Remember if you can dedicate yourself to working full time for animal liberation we can guarentee you there is a CALM cell that would be happy to have you live/eat with them for free for as long as you want. Many interns and activists being mentored end up coming to live with a cell.

Education

How we learn and teach will play a crucial role in shaping the movement.

On Formal 'Education'

There are very few ways to study animal liberation in the formal education system.
Our suggestions to animal liberationists looking for formal education-
  • Make sure you actually want to go to school and are not doing it because of pressure from society, your family, teachers, friends, etc.
  • Make sure you have a supportive group around you when trying to go to school. If you are going to school so that you can help animals, remember you may be able to stay with a CALM cell for free.
  • Do not get into debt.
  • Do not let your school get in the way of your education.
  • Do not believe the meal plan can accomodate vegetarians... it cannot.
  • Look for a program that teaches skills that are applicable to animal liberation initiatives/activists. (i.e. graphic/web designer, videographer, writer/journalist, photographer, educator, fundraiser, marketer, public relations, paralegal, etc.)
It is our experience that college programs are rather straight forward and while they never deal directly with animal liberation they directly give you applicable skills. Universities on the other hand do not always directly give you applicalbe skills and it is often near impossible to focus on animal liberation whithin your academics. Below are university programs we know people were able to give a stronger focus on animal liberation in.

Recreation/Events

As we hear about and establish awesome events, we will post them here.
